Gift Registry

After doing this news segment for the local morning show, I decided to take a minute to add up everything on the average super babystore registry. The total I came to was $2,925. This does not include diapers which add at least $1300 or a rocking chair, changing table, or clothes. This is only items for the first three months. Then I went through the Little Ants site and shopped. The total I came up with is: $798 this includes diapers and wipes until potty training and a carseat at $60.00. It is $858 with a nice lightweight stroller for when baby is around 1-2 years. A jogging stoller or pram might be nice when baby is 2-3 years old but was not quoted in the $2,925 either. Now that I saved you over $3300 today, buy yourself a cup of coffee.

Absolute Necessity
-Mother to Mother Breastfeeding support (free through La Leche League)
-Diapers/wipes or wash clothes
-A few outfits
-A Car seat
-Multi position baby carrier like a wrap or Mei Tai.
-A few blankets
-Food for the Mother that she didn't have to cook.
-Outlet covers (babies have no natural way to know that little hole is so dangerous.)

Nice things to have
-Diaper Bag
-Nursing Pads
-Nursing Pillow (for some people)
-Rocking Chair
-Co-sleeper (for some people)
-Books to read
-As baby gets older some wooden grasping toys
-Organic Towels
-Breastpump if you return work and a few glass bottles
-Lightweight stroller for when your baby is about 1 year old.
-Baby Monitor
-Baby nail clippers and Thermometer
-Bouncy Seat

Wait on
(Either wait to buy until you really think you will use it or buy it used b/c they don't get much bang for the buck)
-Play yard
-Excersaucer
-Walkers (some studies show this slows down walking development)
-Other Safety items (while necessary, it is easier to do as they baby grows and you see what is necessary for your baby)
-Electric Mobiles
-Video baby monitor
-Pacifiers (if you use them, wait until 6 weeks before you start)
-Baby bathtub
-Baby swing (indoor)
-Door Jumper
-Wiper Warmer (facuets and cloth wipes are always warm)
-Lotions & Potions (diaper rash, nipple cream, mi sc lotions) Babies don't get that dirty. A breastfed baby that isn't over bathed should not have dry skin issues. (except in the case of allergies, but then you need to remove the allergen not slather cream over it.
I am sure there are more!!!
